Encode has developed a powerful proprietary web application framework called Praxis, which is built upon proven open-source technologies such as PHP, MySQL and the Apache web server. Praxis was inspired by the Java framework Struts.

Praxis uses industry standards such as XML to deliver true three-tier web applications. Using the MVC design pattern, site content is separated from business logic and presentation, meaning that modification of each tier has minimal impact on other tiers.

Praxis also affords a robust modular approach to web application development and encourages code re-use, which means commonly-used components such as product catalogues, shopping carts and user forums can be added and removed at will.
